Easily the most technical trail feature on this ride, on Jester's Hat Trail. The exposed and nearly impossible root step and the wooden staircase that follows it may not be immediately noticeable in the photo. This is one of the three spots marked on the official PDF map as "hike-a-bike spots". (The other two were the creek crossings that have since been eliminated by bridges.)
